Teaching Route is an independent editorial project that explains California's out-of-state teacher credential routes and provides a browser-only document checklist. It is not CTC, a school district, a credential program, or a legal service.
Publisher and editorial responsibility
Teaching Route is maintained by its publisher as an independent informational website. The publisher is responsible for choosing sources, reviewing changes, maintaining the corrections log, and deciding whether a page is ready for public indexing.
The site does not present itself as a law firm, a credential evaluation service, a teacher preparation provider, or an agent for applicants. It does not claim to employ a CTC decision-maker or to have an official review relationship with CTC.
Why this site exists
California's out-of-state teacher guidance is split across an overview, route pages, an FAQ, application instructions, and other official material. A teacher often knows that “reciprocity” is not automatic but still cannot tell which route is closest or which document changes the answer.
The site addresses that gap with a narrow workflow: identify the closest route, list the evidence that matters, and separate planning advice from the questions CTC must decide. It does not attempt to cover every state, every certificate family, or every employment benefit.
Editorial principles
- Use CTC pages as the source of record for route descriptions.
- Show an access date and an internal review due date.
- Use conservative stop states when a fact is uncertain.
- Do not sell an outcome, a ranking, or an official relationship.
- Correct material errors openly and temporarily restrict affected pages when needed.
How the tool is limited
The checklist covers ordinary Multiple Subject and Single Subject classroom teacher scenarios. It excludes final special-education mapping, international qualifications, administrative and service credentials, salary placement, retirement, immigration, and legal advice.
The output is a route-shaped planning label, not an eligibility decision. Professional-level status, comparable subject area, current forms, fees, and final credential type require CTC review.

General questions can be sent to [email protected]. Source problems and correction requests should go to [email protected].
The checklist itself does not require an email address, account, or correspondence. See the contact page for boundaries and the editorial policy for the review process.
